Three years ago, Mercedes Moné was seen at the All In event, contemplating a move to All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Her decision to join AEW transformed the women’s division. She debuted with ambition, capturing the TBS Championship from Willow Nightingale and embarking on a reign lasting over 500 days. Nightingale ultimately ended Moné’s streak on December 31, 2025, sparking a rivalry fueled by Nightingale’s AEW Women’s World Championship win and Moné’s victory in the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament.
Mercedes Moné showcased her determination by capturing the AEW Women’s World Championship at All In on August 30, 2026. Despite starting the match bloodied from a blow by Nightingale, Moné capitalized on Nightingale’s broken hand, executing her Money Maker submission move to secure the win. The intense battle saw Nightingale suplex Moné outside the ring and use the championship belt against her, but ultimately Moné’s perseverance paid off.
This championship marks Moné’s first reign as AEW Women’s World Champion, enhancing her notable AEW record. In addition to her TBS Championship reign, she has won the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament twice.
Her first challenger might already be in sight. At Wembley Stadium, Thekla watched the match closely. Returning to AEW earlier in the evening, Thekla, who lost the AEW Women’s World Championship to Nightingale at Redemption, could be looking to reclaim her title.
With All Out approaching in a month, fans could witness a clash between Moné and Thekla, potentially setting the stage for a thrilling September showdown.
