During the Fever-Sky encounter, Carrington received a Flagrant 2 foul after obstructing Cunningham during a fast-break layup. Carrington’s action and subsequent ejection triggered a brief, heated exchange between her and Cunningham.
Following the incident, Carrington shared a post on Threads, writing “WHITE PRIVILEGE @indianafever.” She later clarified on X that her comment didn’t pertain to her evaluated foul against Cunningham.
Cunningham, when queried about the heightened distractions after the Sky game, expressed indifference, remarking, “I really don’t care anymore.” She might elaborate on these situations in future podcast episodes or a possible book addressing reactions to her views on transgender athletes.
Despite the distractions, Cunningham reiterated the Fever’s focus on overarching goals. Their triumph over the Liberty improved their season record to 20-12, placing them just behind the 23-11 Las Vegas Aces for the third spot in the WNBA standings.
