The White House announced that Karoline Leavitt will step down from her position as press secretary at the end of August. She plans to take on a new role as a senior outside adviser. This change was revealed by President Trump on Truth Social, stating it allows her to spend more time with her family.
Leavitt welcomed her second child, a baby girl, in May and recently returned to work. President Trump praised her work, noting she would continue to offer guidance from outside the administration. “Karoline has been a significant figure, effectively advocating for Justice, Liberty, and Freedom since 2018. Her efforts contributed to our memorable 2024 Re-Election Campaign. I respect her decision and thank her for an exemplary job,” he commented.
The announcement leaves questions about her successor. Leavitt served as press secretary from the start of the president’s second term. She reflected on her decision, stating, “Since returning after my daughter’s birth, I’ve realized I cannot fulfill both my roles as a dedicated mother and press secretary. This decision, though difficult, is the best for my family.” She affirmed her commitment to the MAGA movement and the Republican Party, continuing in an advisory capacity.
