John Goodman, the 74-year-old actor, has captured attention with his significant transformation. Recently, a photo with fellow actor David DeLuise showed a visibly slimmer Goodman, sparking conversations about his weight loss journey.
The encounter with DeLuise, known for his role as Jerry Russo on ‘Wizards of Waverly Place,’ occurred unexpectedly at a grocery store. DeLuise shared their photo on Instagram, expressing admiration for Goodman. He included the caption, ‘He was my childhood!! Legend!’ emphasizing the impact Goodman had on him.
He was my childhood!! Legend!”
Goodman, recognized for starring in ‘Roseanne,’ has spent years altering his lifestyle and reducing his weight. Once nearing 400 pounds, the actor struggled with maintaining weight loss over the years. In 2010, he disclosed that by eliminating sugar and adhering to consistent exercise, he lost over 100 pounds. His routine involves working out six days a week.
In a 2016 interview with ABC News, Goodman explained, ‘I just stopped eating all the time.’ He described how mindless eating contributed to his previous weight challenges. Reflecting on past habits, he noted how he would shed weight only to relapse into his old ways with habits such as alcohol consumption.
To stay active, Goodman adopted boxing and walking. In a 2023 interview with The Rolling Stone, he shared his enthusiasm for boxing, emphasizing the discipline involved without engaging in sparring. ‘It’s just hitting the mitts and trying to learn,’ he remarked.
Another significant change was Goodman’s decision to quit alcohol in 2007. He spoke about the realization that drove him to seek a better life, recognizing the detrimental effects of his alcohol use.
Goodman follows a Mediterranean-style eating plan as part of his lifestyle overhaul. This approach, combined with consistent exercise, has helped him maintain his health improvements over time, as stated by his trainer, Mackie Shilstone.
