Dannon’s Coffee Yogurt and its Loyal Followers

Dannon’s decision to discontinue its coffee-flavored yogurt has sparked a passionate response from its dedicated fan base. A Change.org petition calls for the product’s return, highlighting its unique mix of coffee taste and creamy yogurt, a go-to snack for many.

The Wall Street Journal reported that a 5.3-ounce cup of this yogurt contained approximately 32 milligrams of caffeine, comparable to a third of an 8-ounce coffee, alongside 11 grams of added sugar. Devotees such as New Jersey lawyer Doron Zeif, who enjoyed the yogurt for 40 years, express dismay at its absence, while Lisa Signorelli from New York reports buying it by the case, fueling her long-standing enthusiasm.

“Discontinuing this flavor has removed a valuable and cherished option for yogurt lovers everywhere,” the petition states.

Social media reflects this sentiment, with users lamenting the yogurt’s disappearance. One Reddit forum user expressed frustration, stating that while other coffee yogurts exist, none match Dannon’s texture and taste. Memories tied to the yogurt, such as those shared by a user’s grandmother who always had Dannon’s coffee yogurt, add an emotional layer to the demand for its return.

Fans exchange tips online to recreate the yogurt’s flavor, suggesting adding coffee to other Dannon products. However, many find these homemade versions insufficient. On Facebook, former enthusiasts swap recommendations, with some discovering alternatives like Icelandic Provisions Cold Brew Coffee Skyr.

According to Rafael Acevedo, Dannon may reintroduce the flavor to align with current taste preferences and nutritional trends. A post on Dannon’s Instagram hinted at this, inviting followers to share their thoughts and stay informed about updates.
