Deputies were dispatched to Hilton’s residence, where they spoke with family members present at the scene.
Officers established that Hilton was alone inside and opted to ‘tactically disengage’ while keeping a close watch on the unfolding events. According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, de-escalation in cases involving mental health crises or self-harm is crucial. They aim to slow the situation by creating time and space for communication, minimizing risks such as ‘suicide-by-cop’ incidents and potential injuries to everyone involved.
Newsweek attempted to reach Hilton’s representatives via email but did not receive a timely response. The now-removed video depicted Hilton cutting himself and stained with what seemed to be blood. Due to the graphic nature, Newsweek has chosen not to share the content, and TikTok has suspended Hilton’s account.
Details about who was home during the video remain unclear. Hilton, who has three children, saw his eldest son born in 2013 and daughters in 2015 and 2017. Earlier, in March, Hilton was hospitalized due to an ulcer following inappropriate flu medication consumption, leading to severe sepsis requiring prolonged medical attention. Subsequently, he faced another hospitalization due to deep vein thrombosis, necessitating blood clot removal from his leg.
In a different social media post, Hilton shared his intent to read the Bible for the first time, attributing his survival to divine intervention. Expressing gratitude, he stated, ‘God did something I can only describe as a miracle.
