Nickelodeon actress Jennifer Hyatt Tedmori recently offered a glimpse into her life after being a child star. At 37, she shared on social media about a ‘crashout incoming’ moment while reviewing residual checks from her time on the popular show “Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide.”
Tedmori, known for her role on the Nickelodeon sitcom, posted a video that captioned, “POV: You were on a TV show 20 years ago and a random envelope still shows up in your mailbox.” The video revealed the surprisingly small amounts on her checks.
“Time to open my latest Ned’s Declassified residual checks,” she wrote. “Residual checks are one of those weird parts of being a child actor that people are always curious about.”
Holding a stack of mail, Tedmori jokingly pondered whether she could afford coffee or a yacht with her earnings. She explained to her followers her reluctance to open the checks due to their often minuscule value. While opening the letters, Tedmori discovered a range of payouts, including a check for two cents.
“All of two cents,” she said in frustration. “See. All this paper I’m just littering in my car. Hard times. The economy is tough … keep it. I don’t want it.”
Her encounters with checks also included a 63-cent payment and a three-cent return for “video projects and school clubs.” Tedmori vented about the irony of receiving such amounts when it cost significantly more to mail them.
As she continued, Tedmori listed other checks with varying values, such as 68 cents, 87 cents, and finally culminating the day with a total of $8.63 from her work on “Ned’s Declassified” and $30.06 from her appearance on “90210.”
“Do I even report this to the IRS? They’re not even going to care,” she quipped.
