Badar Khan Suri, a researcher at Georgetown University, claims he was unjustly targeted by immigration authorities. He attributes this to his family’s pro-Palestinian stance in the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
In a recent development on Thursday, a federal appeals court decided that Suri, who was taken from his Virginia residence by immigration authorities the previous year and transferred between different detention centers, can continue to stay free on bond.
Last year, after being held in an immigration detention center in Texas, Suri was released upon a judge’s order. Upon his release on May 14, 2025, at Washington Dulles International Airport, he was reunited with his wife, Mapheze Saleh.
