The Trump administration has increased its efforts to assert influence over national elections. Markwayne Mullin, the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), has warned local election officials that they could face jail time if they do not comply with requests for voter data. This move comes after President Trump’s televised speech where he repeated unsubstantiated claims about the security of American elections.
