According to a report, Graham is having discussions about a potential campaign. South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster appointed her to complete her brother’s Senate term, and she was sworn in recently.
The deadline for filing in the special primary is from July 21 to July 28, with the primary election scheduled for August 11. Other notable politicians contemplating a run include Reps. Russell Fry, Nancy Mace, Ralph Norman, and Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette.
Lindsey Graham’s Sister Continues His Work, Becoming South Carolina’s First Female Senator
Governor Henry McMaster announced that Darline Graham Nordone would fill the remainder of Lindsey Graham’s U.S. Senate seat following his death on July 11. Darline is the first female senator from South Carolina and the first sister appointed to the Senate.
The late Graham’s communications director announced that his life and work would be honored with memorial services in Washington, D.C. on July 28 and in Columbia and Pickens County, South Carolina, on July 29.
Lindsey Graham passed away at the age of 71. A statement from the District of Columbia’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner revealed that the cause of death was an aortic dissection due to arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
Darline Graham stated, “Lindsey has always been there for me, and now I will be there for him.” She is expected to serve as a caretaker for the Senate seat until Lindsey Graham’s term concludes in January.
