E. Jean Carroll Receives $5 Million Judgment Against Donald Trump

E. Jean Carroll has received her $5 million judgment from President Donald Trump more than three years after a jury declared him liable for sexual abuse and defamation. Court records indicate that the money was held in a court escrow account but has now been disbursed to Carroll’s attorneys. With interest, the total amount reached $5,625,005.48.

The legal case stemmed from Carroll’s lawsuit in 2022 in New York. She accused Trump of sexually assaulting her in a Manhattan department store dressing room following a chance encounter in 1996. Additionally, she alleged that he defamed her when she went public with her claims in 2019. Trump has consistently denied knowing Carroll and asserted that he committed no wrongdoing.

NBC News reached out to the legal representatives of both Carroll and Trump for comments on the situation.
