Vinnie Massaro, a professional wrestler, may not be widely known to mainstream audiences, but he has spent nearly 30 years in the wrestling world. Starting in Hayward, California, Massaro has reached Japan’s top promotions while maintaining a presence in independent circuits. Today, he focuses on training upcoming wrestlers through establishments like West Coast Pro and Pandemonium Pro Wrestling.
Massaro acknowledges he may not achieve his earlier dreams of joining WWE or All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Instead, he has found a passion for guiding the younger generation. He enjoys teaching aspiring wrestlers and working behind the scenes as an agent. He believes contributing to others’ success is more fulfilling than personal fame.
Massaro explained that his original ambition was to join Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) during its rise in the Northeast. Unfortunately, WWE acquired ECW, altering his trajectory. Massaro redirected his goals toward wrestling in Japan, a dream inspired by his admiration for Mitsuharu Misawa. He eventually achieved this by performing at the renowned Korakuen Hall for Pro Wrestling Noah.
His experiences in Japan became personal milestones. Wrestling at Arena Mexico and ECW Arena also hold significant value for him. Massaro’s pride extends to his students, such as Miko Alana, who grew from beginners under his guidance to performing internationally.
Although Massaro’s wrestling style relies on power and strength, he sought to evolve by training in diverse styles across the globe. Unlike Ole Anderson, who stayed rigid, Massaro aspired to emulate Terry Funk’s adaptability. This led him to train in Japan, Lucha Libre, and beyond.
Soon, Massaro will team up with Japanese wrestling star Shigeo Okumura to face a squad led by Lucha Libre legend Blue Panther. This match will occur at Pandemonium Pro Wrestling’s End of Summer Event in Phoenix, Arizona. Facing Blue Panther holds personal significance for Massaro as he recalls watching him in AAA, Lucha Libre, and CMLL events. Partnering with Okumura also highlights Massaro’s role in Pandemonium Pro Wrestling.
