A Knicks parade stunt resulted in fines and a job loss for a JPMorgan Chase executive. The incident involved Angie Báez, who was seen on video taking a Knicks-themed trash can during the celebration. This led to fines from New York City officials after sanitation workers retrieved the can.
The New York City Department of Sanitation confirmed Báez returned the commemorative trash can almost a week after the video showed her emptying trash onto the sidewalk and taking the container. Báez received two fines: $75 for littering and $100 for disrupting sanitation operations.
The Knicks’ championship parade on June 18, 2026, attracted countless fans celebrating the team’s first NBA championship in 53 years after defeating the San Antonio Spurs. Following the parade, Báez, identified by the New York Post as a JPMorgan Chase executive, was no longer with the company. Her role included leading diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
JPMorgan Chase confirmed Báez’s departure but offered no further details. Despite the incident’s public nature, the NYPD reported no complaint file related to it. The Department of Sanitation noted that the trash involved was minor compared to the total cleanup, which collected over 75,000 pounds of debris from the parade.
In a lighthearted response, the sanitation department mentioned on social media they maintain 23,000 litter baskets citywide and suggested fans could purchase Knicks-themed baskets online.
