The Chicago Bears are contemplating a move to Hammond, Indiana, creating unease among their fan base. This potential relocation marks a significant shift for the team, which has deep historic ties to Illinois. WWE NXT champion, Tony D’Angelo, a native of Oak Park, Illinois, and a devoted Bears supporter, expressed his dismay about the team’s possible departure.
D’Angelo shared his thoughts with Fox News Digital, stating, I don’t know what to say, other than, what the F? … They’re ‘The Chicago Bears.’ The ‘Chicago Bears.’
He acknowledged the complications of high taxes and financial decisions but found the prospect of the Bears moving completely out of Illinois to be perplexing. The history and location on Lake Michigan add to the team’s identity, and losing that connection is concerning for fans.
Despite these sentiments, Bears executives see a strategic opportunity. They believe a “world-class stadium” in Hammond could invigorate the area, linking Northwest Indiana and the South Side of Chicago across neighborhoods and suburbs.
D’Angelo retains optimism for the Bears’ upcoming season. He is hopeful that the 2026 performance will demonstrate the team’s potential under quarterback Caleb Williams and head coach Ben Johnson. I think it’s always Super Bowl or bust. The Bears and Caleb Williams have shown their capabilities, surprising many people,
he remarked.
The team’s recent performance, including winning several games at the last moment, has highlighted their resilience and spirit. Williams’ mature gameplay and Johnson’s leadership have been instrumental, leading to cautious optimism among fans.
D’Angelo has faith in the team’s ability to stabilize success after previous fluctuating seasons. He stresses that the upcoming season is crucial and believes success could solidify the team’s standing.
In wrestling news, D’Angelo is set to defend the NXT Championship against Naraku at The Great American Bash, airing on the CW Network next weekend.
