Jon Rahm’s Frustrating Day at the U.S. Open

Golf often challenges players with frustration, even those earning millions. Jon Rahm’s recent experience at the U.S. Open provides a clear example. During the tournament at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, the 2021 U.S. Open champion had a notable moment when he expressed his frustration with an expletive after missing a birdie putt.

Rahm began the tournament positively on Thursday, finishing the day at 2-under. However, Friday proved challenging. The day started with Rahm missing critical putts for both birdie and par, setting a difficult tone. On the ninth hole, his birdie putt narrowly missed, prompting his vocal reaction.

Such frustration is common in golf, as many players know the feeling of missing seemingly achievable putts. It’s an experience shared by professionals and casual players alike.

As the day continued, Rahm’s challenges grew. Although he made a par on his next attempt, he followed with five consecutive bogeys on the back nine. Earlier, three bogeys on the front nine added to a total score of 78 for the day. This left Rahm at 6-over for the tournament, failing to make the cut.

The series of events made Friday a particularly difficult day for Rahm, ending a week he might prefer to forget. Yet, it’s a reminder of the persistent challenges golf presents to its players.
