Ohio Man Arrested for Planned Attack on White House Event

On Sunday, federal authorities arrested 19-year-old Tycen Proper from Ohio on charges of attempted murder of a federal officer and conspiracy to commit an offense against the United States. The charges are related to a thwarted attack on the UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House, court records disclosed.

Details of the Planned Attack

The planned attack was associated with the White House event celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary. Proper is among several individuals arrested in connection to the attack plot.

An affidavit reviewed by Newsweek revealed that Proper, during an interview with investigators, reportedly “admitted to planning with others a coordinated attack against the United States government at the UFC event on the White House lawn in Washington, D.C.”

Further investigations included an interview with Proper’s mother, who mentioned that he had started “interacting with a group online composed of individuals claiming to be ex-military and Christian-based.” The group was described as having “expressed ultra-religious and antigovernment sentiment.”

FBI Director Kash Patel indicated on social media platform X that law enforcement recognized the potential threat on June 10. “Multiple individuals are now in custody and allegedly planned attacks were stopped cold,” wrote Patel in a Tuesday post.

Newsweek sought comments from the public defender representing Proper via email.
