Judge Orders Resumption of Immigration Processing

Judge Orders Resumption of Immigration Processing

A federal judge in Rhode Island has instructed the administration to resume processing immigration applications for individuals from countries affected by a previous ban. This decision follows an event where two National Guard troops were shot last year.

The ruling was issued on June 11, 2026, at 9:00 p.m. EDT, less than an hour ago. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Joseph Edlow’s office was involved in the matter, as reported by Mark Schiefelbein from AP.

Last week, the judge criticized the Trump administration for not promptly adhering to his directive to remove a halt on asylum decisions. This pause had led to a suspension of immigration processing for many countries, which was supposed to resume immediately per the judge’s order.
