Left-wing Twitch streamer Hasan Piker has accused California of pursuing a form of “homo-fascism” following the outcome of a recent primary election. Piker’s preferred candidate, Saikat Chakrabarti, failed to advance, trailing behind a gay Democratic state senator.
During a livestream, Piker expressed his disappointment in the California primary results, in which San Francisco Supervisor Connie Chan and California state Sen. Scott Wiener emerged as the leading candidates. Wiener, who identifies as gay, led the candidates with 41% support.
Piker criticized San Francisco and California, claiming the area’s liberals are not as progressive as they claim and want “gay fascism.”
In a subsequent stream, Piker addressed accusations of homophobia, maintaining his views. He argued that the focus of California’s “wokeness” is limited to LGBTQ rights and abortion. Piker suggested that beyond these issues, the state’s progressivism is lacking.
Piker added, “California liberalism begins and ends at abortion rights and LGBTQ rights. Wokeness has a limit here. They do not care if housing is unaffordable or if economic progress is stunted.”
During his broadcast, Piker also criticized Wiener. He accused the senator of dishonesty regarding his stance on Israel, suggesting that Wiener falsely claimed to believe that Israel committed genocide.
“Scott Wiener said Israel committed genocide, but he doesn’t believe it. He’s a machine politician,” Piker noted.
Piker, who supported Chakrabarti, has also hosted other political figures on his streams, including California gubernatorial candidate Tom Steyer and Los Angeles mayoral candidate Nithya Raman. Both are currently trailing in their respective races.
The public and political figures remain divided over Piker’s comments and his influence in the political sphere.
