Jill Biden’s recent memoir has stirred controversy regarding former President Joe Biden’s debate performance during his presidential campaign. The memoir suggests that Jill Biden was deeply concerned about whether Joe Biden was experiencing health issues, such as a stroke, during the debates. This revelation has led to discussions on his overall health and ability to fulfill presidential duties.
Michael LaRosa, former chief spokesperson for Jill Biden, has accused the White House of attempting to cover up these concerns rather than addressing them directly. LaRosa also comments on the campaign’s delayed efforts to alter public perception of the debate performance, suggesting that action should have been taken sooner to address these worries.
In an interview, LaRosa highlighted Jill Biden’s shift in tone regarding her husband’s debate performance against Donald Trump. He believes that Jill Biden is trying to change how she initially reacted in order to align more closely with the public’s reaction. “She wants to convey that her reaction was as alarming as everyone else’s,” LaRosa stated.
“You did such a great job, you answered every question, you knew all the facts,” Jill Biden praised Joe Biden post-debate.
Contrastingly, in a CBS Sunday Morning interview, Jill Biden shared her fear of Joe Biden experiencing a stroke during the debate. “Watching the debate, I thought, ‘Oh my God, he’s having a stroke.’ It scared me,” she expressed.
Following the debate, Republicans cited Joe Biden’s performance as evidence of a decline in his capacity to lead effectively. On the other hand, Democrats attributed the incident to an isolated lapse.
Axios reporter Alex Thompson expressed skepticism regarding Jill Biden’s portrayal of the debate. He mentioned insights from Biden aides who admitted seeing Joe Biden exhibit similar behavior both before and after debates, noting the challenge in anticipating and managing these occurrences.
