Zachary Levi Discusses Move from California to Texas and New Film Project

Zachary Levi spoke about his decision to leave California for Texas during an interview with Fox News Digital. The 45-year-old actor moved from Los Angeles to a ranch near Austin in 2017. In the interview, he shared his reasons for leaving, describing California as a ‘failed state’ and remarking that it is ‘literally and figuratively on fire.’

Levi’s disillusionment with California was paired with his ambition to reshape the entertainment industry. Since starting his career in Hollywood, Levi recognized inadequacies in its operations. Motivated by a divine calling, he envisioned creating a better version of Hollywood, one owned and operated by artists without middlemen.

In his pursuit, Levi acquired a 75-acre property in Bastrop County, near Austin, Texas, with plans to build Wyldwood Studios, a $100 million film and lifestyle campus. This campus will include soundstages, production offices, residential housing, and wellness spaces. Levi aims for the project, designed as a hybrid production hub and creative retreat, to commence operations in 2027.

Walking away from California meant Levi left behind the perfect weather and close personal ties for a greater mission. He emphasized the importance of weighing such factors when deciding on life changes. Levi found his calling in developing a better world on his property in Texas, despite the trade-offs.

Levi is currently starring in ‘The Fix,’ an action-thriller directed by Guy Moshe. The film tells the story of a group of disgraced former CIA operatives, led by Tucker (Levi) and mentored by Larry (Neeson), facing disillusionment after a failed high-stakes mission. Drawn by the desire to take on a grittier and darker role, Levi embraced the opportunity to portray a complex character seeking redemption.

‘The Fix’ also features stars like Liam Neeson, Annet Mahendru, Grant Harvey, Augusto Aguilera, Elnaaz Norouzi, and Wes Chatham. Levi expressed interest in exploring themes such as moral ambiguity and personal redemption in the film.

Director Guy Moshe praised Levi for his ability as an action star, noting Levi’s commitment and physicality suited for the role. Levi was recognized for bringing raw, real-world edge to his performance. Moshe commended Levi’s collaboration during filming, while actress Elnaaz Norouzi praised Levi for his supportive partnership.

‘The Fix’ is set to premiere in theaters on September 11.
