Virginia police have arrested a 19-year-old individual following a mass shooting at Virginia State University on Saturday. The suspect, identified as Camron Harris from Henrico, Virginia, is not a student of the university. The incident resulted in injuries to five people, one of whom remains in critical condition.
Authorities have not released the identities of the victims, revealing only that one is a university student. After an extensive manhunt, police discovered Harris hiding in a campus dormitory closet.

Police have secured felony warrants against Harris for four counts of malicious wounding and use of a firearm in a felony. He is currently held at Chesterfield County Jail without bail and may face additional charges.
The shooting occurred early Saturday morning, with Harris apprehended a few hours later. Chesterfield Police reported responding to the 3300 block of Boisseau Street at about 1:28 a.m., finding five individuals with gunshot wounds outside the VSU residence halls.
A university official stated to Fox News Digital, “We recognize the concern this incident has caused among our students, parents, alumni, friends and the broader VSU community.” VSU has assured that campus police will maintain a heightened presence while investigations continue.
The lockdown imposed on the VSU campus has since been lifted. The university advises students to check their VSU emails for updates on safety measures and support resources available to them.
VSU, a historically Black state-supported institution, is situated in Ettrick, Virginia, approximately 25 miles south of Richmond. The arrest and investigation have received national attention.
