Vice President JD Vance recently criticized Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, labeling him a ‘limousine socialist.’ Vance warned that the far-left’s policies, including wealth redistribution and open-border immigration, could harm Michigan’s working-class autoworkers.
During an appearance on ‘The Ingraham Angle,’ Vance shared his concerns about the Democratic Party’s shift towards candidates backed by the far-left. He stated, ‘They’re not promising you industry. They’re not promising you good jobs. They’re not promising self-sufficiency in a good industrial economy. What they’re promising is redistribution.’
In the Michigan Democratic U.S. Senate race, El-Sayed won the primary against Rep. Haley Stevens. He will face Republican Mike Rogers in the general election. El-Sayed, a progressive, has received support from figures like Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Vance commented on the changing dynamics within the Democratic Party, saying, ‘The base of the Democratic Party just wants radicals. It wants people who hate even the idea of private property ownership. That particular set of ideas is very popular in places you wouldn’t expect.’
He further argued that El-Sayed’s policies, such as opposing Trump tariffs and supporting low-wage immigration, could negatively impact Michigan’s auto industry and working-class wages.
Vance also labeled El-Sayed as one of the ‘limousine socialists’ who are anti-industry, contrasting with Stevens’ campaign, which focused on manufacturing. El-Sayed ran on a platform advocating ‘Medicare-for-All’ and campaign finance reform.
‘We’ve seen this in Europe and in the United States. The idea that you can build real prosperity by just redistributing assets from one group to another group. That’s not how you build real prosperity. You have to actually sustain the foundation of the economy,’ Vance said.
