Vice President JD Vance’s Comment on ‘Childless Cat Ladies’

Vice President JD Vance’s statement about ‘childless cat ladies’ sparked discussions during President Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign. The comment even caught the attention of singer Taylor Swift, who referenced it while endorsing Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.

Beverly Aikins, JD Vance’s mother, was unaware of Swift’s reference until recent developments. Vance humorously responded to the situation during an appearance on OutKick’s “Tomi Lahren is Fearless.”

“I had no idea that’s what she was even doing. Until you just said that, I didn’t even put the two together,” Vance said with a laugh.

During a 2021 interview on Fox News with Tucker Carlson, Vance, then a Senate candidate, commented on Democrats, labeling them as “a bunch of childless cat ladies.” He claimed they were unhappy with their lives and decisions, projecting this misery onto the country.

Beverly Aikins defended her son, stating the remark was meant in jest and highlighted his sense of humor.

“I just thought it was funny,” she said. “JD’s got a sense of humor. He was making a joke, and people didn’t take it as such, but I know JD and it was a joke.”

The vice president acknowledged the comment as a misstep in his book. Meanwhile, Swift’s endorsement of Harris and Walz featured her posing with a cat.

Tomi Lahren noted Swift’s husband, Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, also has Ohio roots, similar to the Vance family. Beverly remarked on Kelce’s college football stint at the University of Cincinnati.

This exchange and comments further illustrate the complex intersection of politics and popular culture, as public figures navigate their influence and impact.
