Homeowners Opt for Early Mortgage Payments
Many homeowners with low-interest mortgages are accelerating their payments, contrary to traditional financial advice. Financial planner Christopher Price advises that those with a 2.5 percent mortgage rate should aim to pay it off as slowly as possible to maximize personal financial benefits.
New Findings from Rocket Mortgage
A recent analysis by Rocket Mortgage has highlighted this trend. The firm reviewed early payments on nearly 3 million loans across all 50 states over the past five years. The findings reveal that around 25 percent of homeowners are choosing to pay off their mortgages faster than the terms require.
Those Who Would Benefit Most Aren’t Participating
Interestingly, the demographic likely to benefit most from accelerating mortgage repayments is not participating in this trend. Despite the potential financial advantages, many in this group are not taking similar action.
