President Donald Trump and ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith exchanged heated words over Trump’s attendance at a New York Knicks NBA Finals game. Smith suggested that Trump’s presence harmed fans and the city’s spirit during the event. Trump responded to these remarks through Fox News Digital.
Trump criticized Smith’s potential as a political candidate, questioning his intelligence and qualifications. He commented on Truth Social, labeling Smith as “arrogant” and “dumb as a rock,” suggesting he was unfit for any political office.
Smith continued to critique Trump on ESPN’s “First Take” and his podcast, questioning Trump’s policies, including those related to America’s economic challenges and Middle East involvement.
Stephen A. Smith is an arrogant fool, a low IQ individual, wrote Trump. In other words, he’s ‘dumb as a rock,’ and totally unqualified to ever think of running for high political office.
Smith had previously hinted at a possible run for presidency. However, he stressed that his criticism was solely about Trump attending the Knicks’ game, not political. Smith explained the disruption Trump’s visit caused to fans gathered outside Madison Square Garden.
Smith remarked, To go there, knowing the inconvenience it would cause, and knowing that thousands of people would be displaced right outside the Garden…you should know better.
Meanwhile, the Knicks faced the San Antonio Spurs in Game 4 of their series, with New York leading 2-1. Ryan Gaydos serves as a senior editor for Fox News Digital.
