Thousands Expected at ‘No Kings’ Rallies to Promote Voter Participation

An estimated number of thousands will attend the ‘No Kings’ rallies across Los Angeles County and Southern California this Saturday, aiming to boost voter turnout for the upcoming election on November 3.

In South Bay, around 50 protesters marched south on the boardwalk between Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach. Amidst normal beach life, a volleyball tournament took place with teams donned in Halloween outfits, a poodle wore booties against the hot pavement, and a man loudly expressed his thoughts on religious matters. The small, sociable group found themselves taking a group photo at Hermosa Pier, energized by a collective shout of ‘VOTE!’ at the count of three.

This marks the fourth event held by this movement within the past year, with each previous rally addressing different issues such as opposition to President Trump, ICE operations, the war in Iran, high gas prices, and rising food costs.

The No Kings coalition emphasizes on their website, ‘No Kings: Vote Early is the next step of reclaiming our power following a year of mass mobilizations. It’s a day dedicated to nonpartisan voter participation, fostering community engagement, and ensuring every eligible voter has the knowledge and plans to cast their vote.’

Numerous rallies are scheduled throughout Los Angeles and Orange counties, some starting as early as 10 a.m. In downtown Los Angeles, a protest will take place at Gloria Molina Grand Park beginning at 1 p.m. and extend till 5:30 p.m. The Los Angeles Police Department issued a warning that the day’s unpermitted events may disrupt traffic. A post on X advised caution when using specific streets like Spring, Los Angeles, Aliso, Commercial, 1st, Temple, and Alameda.
