Thomas Rhett recently revealed his wife had doubts about his rise to fame as a country singer. On the “Girls In Low Places” podcast, he shared her belief in his talent, but acknowledged the rarity of achieving stardom. Rhett emphasized his wife’s preference for a simple life, rooted in her upbringing. He recounted how she would enjoy quiet nights stargazing with her father, identifying constellations.

The couple’s history goes back to first grade, with a brief high school romance followed by a reconnection after college. They married at 22. Rhett acknowledged the challenges fame brings, contrasting his wife’s desire for normalcy with his own experiences. He mentioned the temptation of perks like cutting lines, which he avoids, striving to maintain a simple lifestyle.

Rhett discussed the struggle to remain grounded as his career took off between 2017 and 2019. He admitted to becoming accustomed to fame in ways that weren’t always positive. The thrill of performing for thousands is unmatched, leaving him longing for excitement in ordinary moments.

The singer spoke about balancing his career with family life. He and his wife, Lauren Akins, have five children: Willa, 10; Ada, 8; Lennon, 6; Lillie, 4; and Brave, born in February. Rhett described the difficulties of parenting while maintaining a busy performance schedule.

During a podcast appearance, Rhett advised not forgetting to “date your wife” despite the demands of raising children. He and Akins recently enjoyed a getaway in London, reinforcing their commitment to maintaining their marriage.

Reflecting on his initial years of fame, Rhett admitted feeling like he was “living a double life,” impacting his marriage. He shared insights with Sadie Robertson Huff on the “WHOA That’s Good” podcast, noting the pressure of affirmation and its effect on his personal life.

Publicly, Rhett maintained a spiritual image, but internally struggled with the demands of fame. The pandemic in 2020 offered him a chance for introspection, helping him rediscover his core identity. He acknowledged his imperfections but expressed living more authentically today, thanks to his wife’s steadfastness.
