Authorities found a suspect linked to five murders in Oregon dead in a vehicle in Enumclaw, Washington. Benjamin Charles Parker, 36, was identified after five bodies were discovered in a home near Forest Grove, Oregon, located about 25 miles west of Portland.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Parker’s death by suicide. The Enumclaw Police Department reported that his body was found inside his vehicle behind a Safeway grocery store, in relation to the investigation.
Detective Shannon Wilde of the sheriff’s office stated that the investigation is ongoing, with efforts to establish the identities of the victims. Five bodies and several domestic animals were found after a vehicle fire was reported at the property.
“Any time you have one person deceased, let alone five, that’s a logistical challenge,” Wilde remarked, highlighting the complexity.
The sheriff’s office mentioned that there is currently no known threat to the public. The connection between Parker and the victims remains unclear. Authorities believe the murders were not random but have yet to describe the nature of Parker’s alleged involvement.
Sheriff Caprice Massey has called for anyone familiar with the property or its residents to provide information. Multiple law enforcement agencies have joined the investigation.
