Vandalism occurred at Cornell University’s Day Hall early Monday morning, highlighting significant student unrest over the institution’s response to rape allegations. The incident took place at around 2 a.m., involving a group of student activists.
These protestors used paint to inscribe messages on the building’s walls. Notably, one message stated, At Cornell rapists are protected protestors are expelled,
reflecting their dissatisfaction with the university’s policies. Another message declared, Smash the patriarchy.
Additionally, several windows of Day Hall were broken during the protest. This building is recognized as the center for Cornell’s senior administrative offices.
The demonstration brings attention to the growing tension between university students and administration regarding the handling of sexual assault cases on campus. Students have voiced their concern over what they perceive as institutional protection for alleged perpetrators and harsher consequences for those protesting against such policies.
