A sexual assault occurred early Sunday morning at an off-campus party near the University of Chicago, according to university officials. The victim reported the incident at 2:10 a.m., approximately 30 minutes after it happened. The suspect is unknown to the victim, as noted in the university’s incident report.

The student handbook of the University of Chicago clearly states sexual misconduct is a violation of campus community standards. It is deemed “unacceptable” even if it does not breach legal statutes. “Sexual misconduct can be devastating to the person who experiences it directly and can adversely impact family, friends, and the larger community,” the handbook asserts.
