Democratic Senators on the panel, including John Fetterman, Maggie Hassan, Richard Blumenthal, and others, were missing. Fox News Digital reached out to all Democratic members of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, but received no responses by press time. Republicans and conservative commentators criticized their absence, focusing on fraud cases in Minnesota, California, and other states.
Republican Reaction
Senator Bernie Moreno noted the lack of Democratic presence. When Paul called on Senator Rick Scott to question witnesses, Moreno pointed out, “If there were a Democrat here, yes,” to which Paul responded, “there doesn’t appear to be a great deal of interest across the aisle.” Representative Lauren Boebert labeled the absent Democrats as “cowards.” Fox News anchor Harris Faulkner questioned Senator Blackburn about the Democrats’ empty seats. Blackburn remarked on their lack of interest in learning the truth about fraud cases.

Blackburn had earlier introduced legislation to make defrauding the federal government a deportable offense. Florida political reporter Eric Daugherty commented on the significance of the anti-taxpayer fraud meeting with key witnesses present, noting the absence of Democrats. During the hearing, Shirley discussed the magnitude of fraud cases, including one involving autism funding in Minnesota.

James O’Keefe spoke about operations in Los Angeles where election petition circulators were recorded offering incentives for ballot signatures. O’Keefe criticized lawmakers for not enforcing principles they publicly uphold, such as protecting democracy and freedom.
