Search for Escaped Inmates in Alabama

Authorities are conducting a search for four inmates who escaped from a correctional facility in central Alabama. The Perry County Correctional PREP Center in Uniontown, Alabama, reported the escape on May 30, 2026, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement.

Law enforcement was notified around 1 a.m. local time on Saturday. The Perry County Sheriff’s Office identified the escapees as Marquavious Billingsley, Jaden Christopher Maxwell, Johnny Dave Harris Bush Jr., and Kevin Gunn.

The circumstances surrounding their escape have not been disclosed yet. All four men hail from Dallas County, Alabama, and were detained under an agreement between the Perry County Correctional Center and the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department.

PREP is an abbreviation for Parole and Probation Reentry Education and Employment Program Center.

The inmates were facing charges for crimes such as murder, first-degree robbery, breaking and entering vehicles, first-degree escape, first-degree assault, and promoting prison contraband, according to the sheriff’s office.

Sheriff Roy Fikes emphasized that Perry County residents’ safety is a primary concern. He urged the public to call 911 with any information on the inmates’ whereabouts and advised against attempting to confront them.

“Deputies and supporting agencies are actively working to locate and apprehend the escapees,” Sheriff Fikes stated. An investigation into the escape is ongoing.
