Scott Eastwood recently shared a story about his father, Clint Eastwood, showcasing his reputation on movie sets. Speaking on the Armchair Expert podcast, Scott, 40, discussed how people respect Clint on set, describing him as someone who never raises his voice.
He recounted an incident involving actor Kevin Costner during the making of A Perfect World, where Clint both directed and acted. According to Scott, Costner, amid his rise to fame, refused to leave his trailer. Clint responded by saying, ‘Well send him home then,’ even though Costner was supposed to film that day.
“So he sent him home, and I guess they just went to Kevin and said, ‘Hey, you’re going to go home for the day,'” Scott explained. “The next day, he was on set ready to go.”
Scott Eastwood has credited his upbringing on sets with shaping his work ethic and understanding of appropriate behavior in the film industry. He grew up witnessing surprising behaviors in Hollywood but learned from his father’s example. Despite seeing some negativity, Clint protected Scott and his siblings from the downsides of early fame. They did not live in Los Angeles but in Carmel for a more normal upbringing.
Scott emphasized the value of being raised away from the chaos of Hollywood, explaining how it prevented him from being affected by the pitfalls of child stardom. He discussed this with Joe Rogan, mentioning the growth challenges faced by those who become famous at a young age.
