Actress Rosie O’Donnell created a stir when she compared ICE facilities to concentration camps in Nazi Germany during a TikTok post. In her video, titled “Friday Ramble,” she addressed various topics, including the passing of country music icon Dolly Parton, before sharply criticizing the Trump administration.
O’Donnell reminded viewers of the vow “Never Again,” referencing the Holocaust. She expressed concern over the current state of politics in the U.S., drawing parallels to the rise of fascism in Germany. “We’re creating concentration camps. We’re detaining people without warrants, and there are alarming reports of abuse within ICE detention centers,” she stated. O’Donnell posed questions about the treatment of women and children in these facilities.
The actress, known for her strong opposition to Trump, criticized his policies and suggested his presidency catered to powerful white men, sidelining others. “He doesn’t represent all people,” she asserted, mentioning that figures like Dolly Parton would better lead with compassion.
O’Donnell has previously drawn comparisons between the Trump era and Nazi Germany. In a past statement, she urged Americans to speak out against perceived atrocities. “ICE acts like his personal Gestapo,” she claimed.
White House spokeswoman Lauren Bis labeled O’Donnell’s remarks as “gross.” She highlighted arrests of individuals accused of severe crimes, defending ICE’s role. Bis expressed concerns that such comparisons could incite violence against law enforcement officers, citing a significant rise in assault and death threats.
Rosie O’Donnell recently continued her public disagreement with Trump while guest-hosting Jimmy Kimmel’s show. During her appearance, she labeled Trump “orange Voldemort.” Observers like media analyst and Fox News contributor Joe Concha suggested her focus on Trump signifies “Severe Trump Derangement Syndrome (STDS).” Concha critiqued Kimmel’s choice to host O’Donnell, questioning her comedic appeal and motivation.
