Rosie O’Donnell recently recognized President Donald Trump for her renewed presence in the spotlight. This comes as the White House accused O’Donnell of being excessively focused on Trump. “I feel like recently I’m re-famous,” O’Donnell shared during an interview with “Good Hang” host Amy Poehler. She attributed her resurgence to Trump, humorously calling him “Mango Mussolini.” She remarked, “If he knew how much he was helping my career and my life, he would shut up about me because, you know, he’s a horrible creature.”
O’Donnell and Trump have a history of exchanging harsh words. She relocated to Ireland following Trump’s victory in the 2024 election against Kamala Harris.
The comedian is active in various media appearances and is scheduled to guest host Jimmy Kimmel’s show for a week.
O’Donnell’s comments align with Trump’s posts on Truth Social, where he suggested she’s “obsessed.” Their longstanding feud allegedly stems from shared New York roots. “So many comedians have said things about him, but I am from the same area that he’s from,” O’Donnell told Variety.
O’Donnell believes their childhood experiences in New York influence their animosity. “People occasionally tell me that we sound alike, which is probably the worst thing you can say to me,” she mentioned. She continued, “I think I trigger him like a PTSD response of all his failures in his life as a kid.”
In a recent conversation on Sophia Bush’s “Work in Progress” podcast, O’Donnell implied her demeanor reminds Trump of challenging girls from his past.
O’Donnell also hinted at returning to ABC’s “The View” for its 30th anniversary. Although “The View” producer Brian Teta noted that formal invitations have not been issued, O’Donnell is eager to mark the occasion.
