Rodent Infestation Halts Food Service at Coral Springs Store

A Coral Springs convenience store faced a major setback last week due to severe rodent issues. The Citgo Food Mart, located at 10380 Royal Palm Rd, will not receive new food deliveries following a recent inspection revealing unsettling conditions.

Inspection Findings

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services conducted the inspection, led by Inspector Timothy O’Neil. He issued a stern warning, stating, “If evidence of pest infestation is observed on the next scheduled inspection, a Stop Sale Order of all foods will be issued.”

This statement follows prior concerns raised on May 14, when the station, owned by Stores Management, LLC, did not alleviate its pest issues. At that time, the inspection uncovered over 100 fresh rodent droppings under frozen soda and coffee machines, throughout the processing room, and various other locations within the store.

Continued Violations

Rodent activity did not cease. The latest inspection on June 3 noted a dead rodent found beneath the three-compartment sink. Fresh droppings were also present in cabinets under drink dispensers and the coffee bar.

Consequently, Stop Use Orders affected multiple areas, including open food processing zones, hot food equipment, and beverage dispensers. O’Neil emphasized potential further action: “If evidence of pest infestation is observed on the next inspection, a Stop Use Order will be issued on all receiving areas of the establishment, and the establishment will no longer be allowed to receive additional food items.”

Operational Impact

Failure to meet inspection requirements means the Citgo Food Mart cannot serve food or beverages until the issue resolves. Addressing this infestation is crucial for the store to regain operational status.
