Robert De Niro and Jimmy Kimmel’s Playful Exchange Over FCC Threats

Actor Robert De Niro made a guest appearance on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ on Wednesday, where he joined the late-night host on stage with a baseball bat, simulating FCC Chairman Brendan Carr. The pair engaged in humorous banter amid ongoing FCC tensions.

During the show, Kimmel referenced previous issues with the FCC. He said, ‘Last time in Brooklyn, we were back after an unexpected FCC vacation week. Things haven’t really improved; we’re still under threat from the FCC.’

De Niro, adopting the persona of Brendan Carr, quipped, ‘You’re being threatened by the FCC? Do I threaten you?’ This playful encounter highlighted the current tensions between ABC and the FCC.

Throughout the exchange, De Niro taunted both President Donald Trump and Jimmy Kimmel. He adopted a comical authoritarian role, asking Kimmel, ‘Did I tell you it was your turn to talk?’ The actor’s antics were punctuated by insults and curses.

The FCC has not commented on the incident. De Niro further jested about President Trump, prompting a chuckle from Kimmel, who returned, ‘Come on now, that’s funny, right?’ This back-and-forth banter illustrated late-night comedic dynamics.

White House spokesperson Davis Ingle criticized both De Niro and Kimmel in a statement. Ingle labeled De Niro a ‘washed-up has-been’ with ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome’ and attacked Kimmel’s talent and ratings.

Kimmel celebrated 4,000 episodes of his show in September, underscoring its endurance despite regulatory challenges. He noted, ‘There are those who, using the FCC’s might, tried to make sure we didn’t last this long, but we’re still here.’

During an appearance by radio host Howard Stern, a potential threat to ABC over Kimmel’s show was humorously discussed. Stern warned ABC, saying, ‘If something goes wrong, they will have hell to pay.’
