Saturday afternoon, a Green Line train on its way to Forest Park faced an evacuation due to wheel misalignment, the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) reported. The train encountered a track switch that had not fully aligned, causing the front and rear wheels to be positioned on separate track segments. Despite the misalignment, CTA confirmed that the incident was not a derailment as all train wheels remained safely on the tracks.
As a safety measure, riders were evacuated and buses provided transportation along the affected areas. Work crews were deployed to restore normal operations on the Green Line.
The Oak Park Fire Department was involved in ensuring a safe evacuation of the train. However, CTA did not release additional details regarding train delays or any station closures associated with the incident. There was no immediate response from the Village of Oak Park concerning the event.
