Rahm Emanuel, a prominent Democrat and former Chicago mayor, is exploring a possible 2028 presidential bid. Recently, he visited Israel with a critical message about America’s support of Israel. Emanuel’s viewpoint suggests ending unconditional U.S. backing unless Israel institutes significant policy changes.
In a speech planned for Tel Aviv, Emanuel will emphasize the need for Israel to reconsider options for Palestinian sovereignty and abandon plans to annex the West Bank. He argues that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s approach has led Israel into isolation by treating military action as the sole solution for security issues.
“It should be obvious that strategic isolation is not a foundation for security,” Emanuel states. “It’s a countdown clock.”
With Israel’s support in the U.S. diminishing, especially among Democrats, Emanuel aims to navigate between anti-Israel and pro-Israel perspectives. He believes that finding a middle ground could benefit both Israel and the United States in addressing divisive political issues.
