Kate, the Princess of Wales, completed the challenge of scaling the three highest peaks in Britain within 24 hours, all to raise money for a cancer charity. This achievement came after her personal battle with the disease.
At 44 years old, Kate, married to Prince William, is now in remission. She has returned to her royal duties after undergoing chemotherapy for an undisclosed form of cancer. Despite her recovery, she has openly shared the toll the illness has had on her and her family.
Through her official social media, Kate announced her completion of the ‘National Three Peaks Challenge’, which involved climbing Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis, and Snowdon, the tallest mountains in England, Scotland, and Wales, respectively, within a day.

Successfully finishing the event with support from Mountain Rescue, Kate was welcomed by Prince William and their three children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—as well as her parents and brother.
The goal was to emphasize the importance of holistic care and gather funds for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, which supports efforts at the hospital where Kate received treatment.
Kate expressed her motivations in a video statement, mentioning both personal reasons and the desire to contribute to the incredible work being carried out across the country. “Lots of people have asked me why I’m doing this challenge and partly it’s personal. I’m so grateful to be here, to be strong enough to walk these hills,” she said. “But more importantly, it’s to give something back and acknowledge really all the incredible work going on up and down this country.”
In early 2024, Kate underwent preventative chemotherapy following major abdominal surgery that revealed she had cancer. She has since shared personal accounts of the impact on her family.
Kate spoke about meeting remarkable individuals living with and beyond cancer, understanding the challenges they face. She emphasized her desire to support The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, valuing their exceptional work for those affected by cancer.
