On a trip to Asia last fall, Trump highlighted his success in passing tax cuts and reducing social safety net programs. He noted his preference for bundling multiple issues into single legislative efforts, suggesting that once achieved, additional congressional involvement might not be necessary.
Recently, Trump’s tactics have experienced pushback from his party. Four House Republicans joined Democrats in a demand for Trump to either withdraw U.S. forces from conflict with Iran or seek congressional approval, challenging Trump’s assertion that he does not require such authorization.
Another significant roadblock emerged over a $1.8 billion fund intended to support Trump followers claiming political persecution by Democrats. Republican senators resisted advancing Trump’s immigration agenda linked to this fund, compelling the acting attorney general, Todd Blanche, to announce the initiative’s suspension.
Despite these setbacks, Trump’s stance remains firm. He conveyed uncertainty regarding the fund’s status when questioned by reporters, maintaining his characteristic defiance.
