President Donald Trump will mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks with a ceremony at the Pentagon. He will honor the victims and recognize the first responders who risked their lives during the tragic events of that day.
According to Anna Kelly, principal deputy press secretary, Trump has recounted his own experiences as a New Yorker on September 11, 2001. On this significant anniversary, he will pay his respects to those who lost their lives, and acknowledge the bravery of responders.
In addition to the Pentagon event, Vice President JD Vance will attend a remembrance at the World Trade Center site in New York. These ceremonies ensure the presence of White House representatives at all three locations affected by the attacks.
“On the 25th anniversary of this tragic day, the president will remember those who were killed at the hands of evil terrorists, honor their loved ones, and pay tribute to the brave first responders who put their lives on the line to rescue their fellow Americans,” Kelly shared.
Last year, Trump participated in a commemoration at the Pentagon, proclaiming Patriotic Day and urging the nation to fly flags at half-staff. He later attended a baseball game in the Bronx, where tributes were made to the victims.
Trump has been involved in previous 9/11 memorials, attending events at various significant sites throughout his presidency, including Shanksville, Pennsylvania, in remembering the fallen heroes and civilians.
A traveling memorial spearheaded by the Tunnel to Towers Foundation recently stopped at the White House. The display features a massive steel beam from the World Trade Center’s South Tower, serving as a poignant reminder of the lives lost and the heroics exhibited that day.
