President Donald Trump expressed optimism regarding the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of ‘Today’ co-host Savannah Guthrie. Her case has attracted significant national attention.
During a discussion with reporters at Reading Regional Airport in Pennsylvania, Trump was questioned about the prospects of the FBI and other investigators successfully locating Nancy Guthrie.
“I hope they find her,” Trump said. “That family has gone through hell.”
The search for the missing 84-year-old Arizona woman has entered its 20th week. Savannah Guthrie made emotional appeals, asking the public to provide information that could assist in solving the case.
A sign reading “Nancy Guthrie Desparecida” was placed near Nancy Guthrie’s Tucson residence by Madres Buscadoras De Sonora on February 24, 2026. Law enforcement continues the search, which began on February 1. Savannah Guthrie announced a $1 million reward for tips leading to her mother’s discovery.
On ‘Today,’ Savannah Guthrie encouraged anyone with information to contact the investigators.
“Somebody knows something,” Guthrie said. “We are in agony.”
Recently, a second ransom note reached the family, alleging that Nancy Guthrie died shortly after being abducted from her Catalina Foothills home. A federal law enforcement source familiar with the case informed Fox News that the note suggested Guthrie was “buried with nature.” Despite its remorseful tone, the note did not request payment, which experts say is atypical of genuine ransom demands.
Authorities have yet to confirm the legitimacy of the ransom notes or identify their sender. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos explained that both investigators and the FBI have assessed numerous ransom communications. Some have been deemed fraudulent, while others remain under consideration.
Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance was reported in early February shortly after she vanished from her Tucson-area home. The FBI, Pima County Sheriff’s Office, and other agencies are actively investigating.
Savannah Guthrie has vowed her family’s enduring commitment to uncovering the truth.
“We love our mom,” she stated. “We’ll never stop looking for her, never.”
