Pat Sajak Honored Air Supply and Reflected on His Career

Pat Sajak, former host of “Wheel of Fortune,” made a rare public appearance in Los Angeles. The 79-year-old was seen on Hollywood Boulevard, attending an event to honor Air Supply. The band’s members, Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Sajak looked sharp in a gray suit paired with a pink shirt. He posed for photos with the musicians and delivered a speech at the ceremony. In his speech, Sajak humorously mentioned his experience with long-running shows, stating, “I did my little show for over 40 years.”

Sajak quipped, “I understand the challenge of trying not to wear out your welcome.” He praised Graham and Russell for entertaining fans globally for over 50 years.

Adding humor, he said he considered getting an Air Supply logo tattoo but opted not to, as it would overshadow his fictional nipple ring.

Sajak hosted “Wheel of Fortune” and “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune” for 41 years, retiring in 2024 when Ryan Seacrest succeeded him. Post-retirement, he starred in “Prescription: Murder,” a play staged at The Hawaii Theatre in 2025.

From Hawaii in June, Sajak updated fans via video, humorous about enjoying life after moving to Montana. He jested about tending to cattle, emphasizing his contentment.

Though renowned for “Wheel of Fortune,” Sajak shared in a 2024 Instagram video that he nearly declined the hosting role initially. He took over from Chuck Woolery in 1981 for the daytime version, transitioning to the nighttime edition starting in 1983.

In another lighthearted anecdote, Sajak spoke about past local TV auditions, recalling doubts about the potential of “Wheel of Fortune” during its early days.
