Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi has updated her fans on her health journey, following her cervical cancer diagnosis. Six months after revealing her condition, the 38-year-old reality star shared an emotional Instagram video, detailing her recent hysterectomy.
The video begins with Polizzi arriving at the hospital and preparing for surgery. She narrates her experience via a voice-over, transitioning to directly speaking to the camera post-operation.
“I told you guys in general I’m not good with pain, and I’ve really been trying to be tough, but it’s not great,” Polizzi said. “We did that C-section cut, and he obviously ended up taking out the uterus, my cervix and then some parts of my vagina just to make sure we get everything.”
She continued, “The fallopian tubes, all of it. We kept my ovaries so I don’t go into pre-menopause, which is nice.”
Polizzi’s candid update reflects her emotional state. She apologized for getting emotional but emphasized her effort to remain positive.
Describing the pre-surgery process, Polizzi explained the procedures involved, noting feelings of nervousness and anxiety.
“I was starting to get nervous and anxious, getting checked in and stuff. And then they wheel me in where they’re doing the procedure,” Polizzi said. “And I’m like, ‘Stay positive, it’s gonna be fine, don’t freak yourself out.'”
She shared how emotions intensified, recounting her fear of the surgery and the compassionate care from medical staff.
In a lighter moment, Polizzi relayed her attempt to “set the record” for resisting anesthesia, proudly claiming she counted to 10 before passing out.
Apart from the hysterectomy, doctors addressed diastasis recti. Polizzi mentioned this condition often arises post-pregnancy.
Explaining her decision to share her health journey, Polizzi said, “It’s a scary thing and a lot of us women deal with it. No one really talks about it, so I’m here to give that platform for all of us ladies.”
She acknowledged messages from followers facing similar surgeries, offering them support and honesty about the fear involved, and the relief once it’s over.
“You have pain, you gotta manage it, get the pain meds, and in a couple of days, you’ll feel brand spanking new,” Polizzi said. “Hopefully I’ll be cancer free.”
Her post concluded with gratitude towards followers and a reminder to “get your Pap smears.” She initially revealed her Stage 1 cervical cancer diagnosis in February, expressing her intent to undergo a hysterectomy.
