Welcome to another edition of Monday Screencaps. This morning, we delve into football, a personal record, and my Detroit trip.
Football Insights
I’ve focused on the demise of NFL chain gangs for years. Now, the NFL has a virtual measurement tool like MLB’s ABS system. During the Packers-Vikings game, the ball was placed by a human, the ref couldn’t call it, so ABS determined it was six inches short. The league’s been putting chips in footballs since 2016 and still can’t perfect it. We have AI, yet we struggle with simple tasks.
JJ Watt took Tony Romo’s seat. He performed safely and without being extraordinary. His analysis was soft-spoken and reserved.
Changes to Football & Moments of Excitement
Football can be unpredictable. The Bears scored 59 points, yet many yearn for defensive matches. On Sunday, I had a great day with Screencaps Jr. and Screencaps III at the golf course. We played 9 holes; Jr. hit balls over water hazards, proving them achievable.
The NFL is focused on Madison Beer as a possible Taylor Swift replacement. The Chargers need to improve quickly if Beer is to assume Swift’s role. Jacoby Brissett outperformed Justin Herbert. The Chargers lost their $30 million center due to an ACL injury.
Colin Kaepernick Event Experience
I was in Detroit for the Black Footwear Forum to see Colin Kaepernick speak. Access was initially denied despite having tickets. Eventually, we got in, but Kaepernick repeated well-known topics. No new insights, audience interaction, or Q&A.
Miscellaneous Notes
I’ve subscribed to the NFL Ticket for $240 through Verizon.
Mike T. expressed surprise at political ads on TV, particularly in battleground areas compared to his Red state.
The Screencaps Jr. achieved a new cross-country record at the Tiffin Carnival meet, finishing 11th out of 287 runners. His team excelled, scoring 70 points and winning the varsity race by 110 points.
Reader Opinions & Seasonal Notes
Eric P. speculated on a Baltimore and Chicago Super Bowl. Despite weak defenses, he sees announcer bias.
Dennis commented on NASCAR broadcast quality, preferring not to have Australian hosts.
Ralph suspected point shaving in the Ohio State-Texas game, hinting at Mexican Mafia influence.
Let’s finish summer strong despite cooler temperatures and changing leaves. Get outdoors and enjoy activities. Have a productive week!
