A Michigan resident has faced criticism for his comments on the increasing Islamic population in his community, yet he remains resolute. Justin Tye, 57, of Warren, Michigan, expressed his determination to continue speaking out during an interview with Fox News Digital.
“This is my home, this is where I was born and raised, this city, this state,” said Tye. Following his remarks, Tye’s address was revealed publicly. He described the transformation of his town and neighborhood due largely to Muslim immigrants in recent years. Tye has encountered hostility, including receiving messages labeled “Justin Tye, Bigot at Large.”
Tye stated, “Some things are worth the trouble, and this is worth the trouble that could come from it.”
Despite receiving a package containing derogatory stickers and other items, Tye remains undeterred. “I’m not gonna stop,” he asserted. Tye emphasized his commitment to defending his neighbors and the long-standing residents of the area.
Tye shared that local residents have shown support. While out shopping, several people recognized him from the Fox News interview and expressed their backing. A number of Warren residents also conveyed similar sentiments during previous discussions with Fox News Digital.
According to Tye, the situation in the neighborhood changed after the purchase of a mosque six years ago. He recounted an incident where an Eid al-Fitr prayer service, conducted without prior notice, disturbed the entire community. Tye described these changes as creating “chaos” in the neighborhood.
Tye led a tour highlighting new mosques within a seven-mile radius, including converted industrial sites and churches. Some local residents voiced discontent with the changes. After the publication of an initial story on this topic, the city issued a statement titled “One Warren: Stronger Together, No Room for Hate,” responding to Tye’s doxxing.
“Every Warren resident deserves to feel safe in their own community,” the statement said, condemning personal attacks and harassment.
Warren’s statement underscored the importance of respecting diversity and disagreement without resorting to threats or intimidation. The statement emphasized the need for maintaining safety and freedom of expression for all residents.
