Sienna Bialek, a senior libero at Metea Valley High School, embodies dedication both as a volleyball player and in her aspiration to become a nurse. Standing at 5 feet tall, Bialek’s passion for helping others drives her professional ambitions.
“I enjoy helping people in daily life, and I want to do that as a profession,” says Bialek, who is inspired by her grandmother Rose, a retired radiology nurse. Their shared enthusiasm for caregiving is unique within their family.
Bialek’s compassion resonates with her teammates. “Sienna will be an excellent nurse,” notes Rachel Keeler, a fellow senior. “She’s thoughtful and always prioritizes others’ feelings.” Her kindness shines both on and off the court.
Aside from sports, Bialek impresses academically with a 4.0 GPA and demonstrates leadership as vice president of the Best Buddies club at her school. Her involvement extends to community service through the Key Club.
On the volleyball court, she exhibits determination in the challenging role of playing defense. Despite the lack of glory in this position, Bialek excels. During a recent match against Geneva, Coach Dave Macdonald praised her speed and dedication, comparing her agility to the fictional Mighty Mouse.
Bialek transitioned from gymnastics to volleyball in seventh grade, encouraged by her father Robert. She measures her success not solely by victories but by teamwork. “Even though we were overcome today, we worked well together,” she reflects.
Many of Bialek’s peers also aim to enter healthcare specialties. Coach Macdonald acknowledges their drive to make a difference beyond the sports program. He sees potential in them, expecting them to contribute positively to healthcare professions.
Bialek plans to specialize as a pediatric nurse due to her fondness for working with children. She cherishes her time with her volleyball teammates and looks forward to their upcoming regional semifinals. “We form a great bond both inside and outside of volleyball,” she shares.
