LSU Tigers Reconsider Adding Former NFL Players Amid SEC Threat

The LSU Tigers have reconsidered their plan to add former NFL players to their roster. Coach Lane Kiffin and school officials faced backlash from the Southeastern Conference (SEC), which even threatened expulsion from the league.

The SEC’s potential expulsion vote is set for Thursday. However, there’s minimal desire for LSU and the SEC to part ways. Even LSU President Wade Rousse acknowledged the issue of professionals playing in college as moot.

Meanwhile, LSU’s rivals are enjoying the situation. On the Texas A&M radio show, ‘The Aggie Football Hour,’ head coach Mike Elko assured fans that the Tigers aren’t leaving the SEC.

LSU will be in the SEC, he said, as reported by TexAgs. LSU will be fired up when we go to Baton Rouge in a couple of weeks. All of those things are going to happen.

Elko added a playful jab, likening the SEC to an authority disciplining an unruly child. This description might annoy some LSU fans, but reflects the current circumstances.

LSU and Kiffin tried to incorporate two professional players, Dae’Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris, citing conflicting court rulings about eligibility. This defied conference rules, prompting the SEC to threaten expulsion after widespread outrage among other league schools.

Kiffin couldn’t resist mentioning the saga during a halftime interview, joking about having NFL players during a dominating 31-3 lead.

The SEC highlighted possible exclusion from longstanding rivalries, which led LSU to refuse such a future.
