Accusations have emerged against Georgia resident and beauty queen Lindsay Shiver. She is alleged to have conspired with her Bahamian partner, Adrien Bethel, to hire a hitman to kill her ex-NFL player husband, Robert Shiver. Her lawyer argues that evidence issues should exempt her from prosecution.
Her U.S. attorney claims Bahamian prosecutors lack jurisdiction since the alleged actions occurred when Shiver was in the U.S. “Lindsay Shiver is not guilty of the crimes alleged against her by the Bahamian Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP),” attorney Craig Shirley declared in a statement to Fox News Digital.
The indictment asserts that the conspiracy took place in the Bahamas on July 16, 2023. However, her defense has furnished evidence confirming her presence in the U.S. on that date. “The DPP must prove it,” Shirley stated, emphasizing that they cannot prove she was in the Bahamas.
Lindsay Shiver’s alleged involvement came to light during an unrelated break-in investigation at Abaco, Bahamas. Authorities discovered WhatsApp messages on a suspect’s phone. The messages included photos and alleged instructions from Shiver to “Kill him.” Her defense contends these messages were misconstrued.
Despite arresting Shiver, Bethel, and Faron Newbold Jr., the alleged hitman, in July 2023, they have all pleaded not guilty to the conspiracy charges.
Attorney Shirley highlighted the jurisdictional discrepancies as a critical defect in the charges. He expressed surprise and disappointment over the continued prosecution, insisting the Bahamian government lacks the legal authority. Shiver’s Bahamas-based attorney, Terrel Butler, declined to comment on the case.
